Check an address in Telegram
@LeeriAMLBot (open in Telegram) is the only official Leeri bot. Send it a crypto address or a transaction hash and it answers with the same sourced verdict the API returns, in a few seconds.
The bot never asks for a seed phrase, a private key or a wallet connection. If a chat that looks like ours asks for any of them, it is not us. Check that the handle is exactly @LeeriAMLBot.
Run a check
- Open @LeeriAMLBot and send
/start. The bot shows a menu with Check, Balance, Buy, Language and Help. - Send one address, or one transaction hash, per message. A message with several addresses is refused.
- If the address fits more than one network, the bot asks which network it is on, because each network is a separate check. The likeliest networks are shown first; More reveals the rest. When only one network fits, the check starts at once. A network question stays open for 10 minutes.
- Wait for the answer. A check usually takes a few seconds; if it takes longer the bot says so and messages you when it is ready. Only one check of yours runs at a time.
The bot tells you when an address does not look like one on a supported network and lists the networks it supports. The full list with the depth of coverage for each is in Supported assets.
Check a transaction
Send the transaction hash instead of an address. A 64-character hash without a prefix can belong to TRON or Bitcoin; a hash starting with 0x can belong to Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain or Base. Choose the network, then tell the bot whether you sent or received the transaction, so it screens the right side of the transfer.
- On TRON, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Base the bot reads your side of the transfer from the transaction itself.
- On every other network it asks you to send your address in that transaction, and refuses an address that is not part of it.
If the transaction cannot be found on the network you chose, or the address is not part of it, the bot says so and you are not charged. The API behaves the same way, see Transaction checks.
Read the answer
The reply is a short summary of the verdict:
| Part | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Title | The network and whether this is an address or a transaction check. |
| Risk level | The band (low, medium, high or severe) and the score out of 100. |
| Source of funds | Where the funds came from, as shares of trusted, suspicious, dangerous and unidentified counterparties, when the check traced them. |
| Findings | Up to three findings with the largest weight. Each one links to its source; a rule-based finding links to its methodology page and a finding from an own label links to the source document. Further findings are counted and listed in the PDF. |
| Notes | A label-only check (the network is checked by labels without tracing transactions), a partial result when a data source was unavailable, and the count of wallet security warnings, which do not change the score. |
| Footer | The short verdict id, the checks you have left, and whether the check was charged. |
The score, the band and the findings are derived exactly as described in Methodology. A check that ends partly because a data source was down is flagged as partial and is not charged.
Get the PDF report
Tap PDF report under the answer. The bot prepares the report and sends it to the chat as a document named leeri-report-<id>.pdf; if it is not ready yet, tap Try again. A report too large for Telegram is offered as an online link instead. Only the private chat that ran the check can fetch its report. What the report contains is described in Evidence reports.
Your first check and re-checks
- The first check is free. Every Telegram user gets exactly one free check, once in their lifetime. Free checks can be paused for the day when a daily allowance for all users is spent; the bot says so and you can still buy a pack.
- Re-checks are free for 7 days. Checking the same address on the same network (or the same transaction in the same direction) again within 7 days of a completed check costs nothing, up to 10 free re-checks per day. The answer says it is a free re-check.
- After that, each check uses one check from a pack, see Check packs.
A check that could not be completed is not charged, and a check that was already paid for is returned to your balance.
Limits
To keep the bot usable for everyone, each user can make up to 5 checks per minute and 60 per hour. When you are over a limit the bot tells you how many seconds to wait. These are the values at the time of writing and can change.
Commands
In a private chat:
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/start | Greets you, shows your balance and the menu. |
/help | Lists the commands. |
/language | Changes the bot's language; the bot is available in 15 languages. |
/buy | Shows the check packs, see Check packs. |
/balance | Shows your remaining checks. |
/link and /unlink | Link or unlink the chat to a company account, see Link a company chat. |
/terms | Shows the terms and the data the bot keeps. |
/paysupport | Payment problems and refunds. |
/deletemydata | Erases your data after you confirm. Your remaining checks are lost; purchase records are kept for tax and legal reasons. This cannot be undone, and it does not give you another free check. |
In a group the bot answers only /help, /link, /unlink and /terms. A group never runs checks: other commands answer with a pointer to the private chat with the bot.
Using checks in your product
The bot is meant for occasional checks. To screen at volume or inside your own flow use the API, see Authentication and Address checks.
